"Press through"
02-19-12
I want to be free! How about you, are you free? Think about it for just a few seconds, are you really free? God spoke a word to me last week, it wasn't profound or prophetic it was just plain truth and it went like this - "Sometimes things come easy, our needs are met and our prayers are being answered, everything's going our way. But then there are those times when it seems like we're up against a wall, everything's a struggle and it seems like nothing is happening for us and that's when the Lord says we're only going to get victory and have our needs met by pressing through." Was this a specific word for someone else or for me? I don't know but I do know this, I have allowed fear to stop me from doing, from saying, from going. . . I haven't pressed through in that area of my life. I've pressed through sickness and financial lack, I 've pressed through guilt and condemnation and I'm free in those areas of my life but I've backed down from fear. Sometimes we give up to easy. We retreat when we should be advancing. We give in to fear and are stopped in our tracks. We accept one door slammed in our face as the final answer. We live with sickness because we're not healed instantly. We live in rejection and misery, we live with shame, depression and failure. All because we refuse to press through!
I've never actually counted how many opportunities Jesus had to retreat from different situations He faced but I can assure you there were plenty. Jesus is our example and He was never stopped. He refused to allow anything to stop His purpose. Aren't you thankful He pressed through when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane? Do you realize if He had yielded to the fear He faced that day and hadn't pressed through our destiny today would be hell instead of heaven.
Most people are familiar with the story of Samson and Delilah. Delilah was after the secret of Samson's strength and in Judges chapter 16 in her first failed attempt she enticed him. In her second failed attempt she used the pout and get it my way game. In her third attempt she succeeded and this is how - Judges 16:16,17a "And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death: That he told her all his heart . . . " Did you catch that? She pressed him, she didn't let up, she kept on and on and on. . .
What stops you? What holds you back? What's your mountain? What stands between you and your calling and your gifts? God placed within all of us gifts and callings for the prupose of building up the body of Christ and furthering His Kingdom. We are a body with many members, you by yourself and me by myself can never make it happen, it's all of us working together with Jesus in one mind and one accord - completely unfettered. (freed, unrestricted, unrestrained, unbound and unchained) Don't give up on your calling, your needs, your prayers, press through the hard areas of your life so that you and I together with Jesus can be free and do great exploits for our God! Praying for your breakthrough, be blessed.
